Lodge Officers
The Brethren Who Labor for Shem Lodge No. 8
For the Masonic year 2026 to 2027, these five officers are charged with the governance, instruction, and care of the Lodge, each keeping his station and rendering his part in the work.
The Duties of the Office
Each station has its charge
A Lodge is governed in good order because every officer knows his place and his part. These are the offices of Shem Lodge No. 8 and the work entrusted to each.
Worshipful Master
The Master presides over the Lodge and is answerable for its governance and good order. He gives the Lodge light and instruction, opens and closes its labors, and represents the Lodge before the Grand Lodge and the wider community.
Senior Warden
The Senior Warden assists the Master in the government of the Lodge and superintends the Craft while at labor, standing ready to preside in the Master's absence.
Junior Warden
The Junior Warden observes the sun at its meridian, calls the Craft from labor to refreshment and back again in due season, and watches over their conduct.
Secretary
The Secretary records the proceedings of the Lodge, conducts its correspondence, keeps its seal and records, and accounts faithfully for the dues and fees received.
Treasurer
The Treasurer receives and safeguards the funds of the Lodge and pays them out only upon the order of the Worshipful Master with the consent of the brethren.
